Pilates for Rehabilitation

Pilates is a system of strengthening and stretching exercises designed to develop the body’s core (abdominals, low back, hips, and gluteals) and ultimately lead to better posture and balance.

Our Family Physical Therapy and Wellness therapist may incorporate some of the basic Pilates principles and exercises into rehabilitation programs using a mat and/or a Pilates Reformer Machine. The basic concepts include breathing and pelvic and spinal positioning for stability, building the core strength, and learning how to maintain the proper position during movements.
