Kinesiotaping

kinesiotaping

Kinesiotaping: It is a therapeutic taping method that uses a latex free elastic tape to provide your body with a gentle reminder to maintain a specific position during an activity. For example, to keep the knee cap in alignment while biking or to keep your shoulders back while working at your work station. Kinesiotaping is used to improve muscle function by supporting the muscles during movement and possibly increasing the endurance, it improves circulation which promotes the healing process and would maintain the health of the tissue, improves joint movement by assisting with alignment, and decreases pain by providing a comfortable stretch and constant pressure to the myofascial area. The kinesiotape is typically worn for a few days and can be worn during and after activities. It can be an effective treatment for many people, as part of the rehabilitation process, it is not meant to replace a brace or cast.
